Hi! I am the founder of LittleTone Music. I specialize in teaching little children and helping them start or deepen their musical knowledge in a fun yet effective way. I have over 9 years of experience teaching music to kids of preschool age and up. I've been a group & private class instructor at Opus 1 Music Studio in Silicon Valley, California since 2012. After having moved to Portland, I've decided to take on my individual adventure and share the joy of music with young minds.

Children have an open and absorbing mind and introducing them to music as early as possible should be a goal of every parent and adult. My personal intention is to plant a seed in their hearts and reveal this wonderful world of sounds, vibes, emotions, and moods which will not only give a strong music foundation if they choose music as their primary occupation but also help them grow and bloom into confident and happy adults.

Our music studio philosophy is inspired and based on Zoltan Kodaly’s approach, which emphasizes the importance of music education starting at a young age. Our approach is grounded in the belief that music education can foster not only musical skills but also intellectual, physical, and spiritual development.

Music education can be transformative, enriching the lives of students and promoting a love of music that can last a lifetime.

Our classes are available in English and Russian, and we incorporate songs from various cultures, including Spanish, African, Chinese, Belarusian, and more, to encourage exploration and diversity. If you choose the Russian class, note that the instruction and communication will be in Russian, while some materials and songs will be in both languages.

Join us twice a year for our musical concerts! Our summer concert is a casual outdoor gathering where children can perform solo or in groups, share their favorite games and snacks, and connect with other young musicians in a friendly environment. Our winter concert is a formal indoor event, giving children the opportunity to experience a real stage performance.

My kids have been learning from Irina since past several years. They love her. I think her curriculum is best suited for younger kids. Ever since she moved out of silicon valley, my kids miss her a lot. I hope to join her lessons soon for the younger one

My 4 year old daughter loves her music classes with Irina. She has attended for almost a full year and looks forward to them every week! Irina is great with young children, she’s encouraging and also provides gentle guidance to help them follow directions. I like the variety of singing, exposure to various instruments and age-appropriate music theory. I highly recommend her classes for anyone that would like to expose and develop their children’s interest and love for music.

Irina is a wonderful teacher: she has some special approach to kids. My son is looking forward to the class each time. He has been coming to Irina for a year already. We want our students to have the best learning experience.That's why we prepare a special music bag that will be given to each child at their first class(Music Soul and Singing Soul) and provide for a smooth and fun learning process.The materials that are in the bag will serve you for a long time and will be refilled with new supplies and worksheets at no cost to you.

We prioritize eco-friendly materials in our teaching, reflecting our commitment to nature through singing songs and promoting environmental protection. Our materials are predominantly made from natural and sustainable sources.

Our program includes diverse books, starting with our own for young children and gradually adding other theory, voice, and piano books. Tuition fee covers all materials.

Our custom music bags with name tags are made of 100% cotton, and will carry all necessary music supplies for each class.

Join our ongoing program for an introduction to the instrument, including position, tuning, basic music symbols and theory. Learn to read and play basic melodies and easy chords, master strumming patterns, and explore the first scales and improvisation techniques.
You will get a weekly homework assignment. Must have an instrument and commit to practice 10-15 minutes x at least 4 days a week.

Classes Duration: 30-60 minutes (based on the number of kids)

Singing should be the foundation for musical learning.
A thoroughly-structured program designed to give young singers a solid foundation in the fundamentals of singing & musicianship. Children learn new musical concepts every week and polish them through written assignments & singing. Individual time is set for each child to practice a song of their personal choice.
The program includes both rhythmic and melodic work, interesting mix of repertoire, solfège, vocal warm-ups, music theory, sight-singing, diction & intonation, breathing & posture, performance strategies, and ear-training.

Class Duration: 60 minutes
Each session is 11-13 weeks.

In this class, your child will have the opportunity to learn the basics of piano playing in a fun and supportive environment. You don't even need to have a piano at home - although if you do, that's a plus!
The program includes:

• Learning the basic notes

• Understanding note values
• Sight-reading exercises
• Learning the music alphabet
• Ear and rhythm training
• Playing first tunes

Class Duration: 60 minutes

The guitar/piano classes include an introduction to the instrument, position, tuning, basic music symbols & theory, learning to read and play basic notes and easy chords, master strumming patterns (guitar) and the first scales, and melodies.

Vocal lessons are devoted to finding the strengths and individual features of your voice, working on establishing a good breathing support, and building confidence in using your voice and performing. Classes include ear-training, sight-singing, solfege, vocal exercises, and warm-ups as well as developing your individual repertoire.

You will get a weekly homework assignment. Must have an instrument and commit to practice 10-15 minutes x at least 4 days a week.

Upon request, we can set up a semi-private or a group lesson (2+ people in a class)

Join our engaging and educational program that builds a strong musical foundation for children! Our program covers music theory, singing, movement, rhythm, ear-training, and more, including composers, music genres, exploring & trying instruments such as piano, guitar, ukulele, and drums. This is the perfect "upgrade" after completing the full LittleTone program. Teacher recommendation required.
